Bhagavan Buddha gave up his austerities of yoga as impossible and useless. (Page.70/71 "Buddhism in Translation” by Warren)

Bhagavan Buddha got enlightenment only after he gave up Yoga. Unless one exercises his reason--there is no chance of getting the truth.
When the yogi enters this highest Nirvikalpa (effort-less) Samadhi, he will at once enter deep sleep. This will make plain to him after he wakes, that the inner ‘Self’ he sought and found, the Atman, is reached only when all his ideas are refunded into it, when there is then all the features of non-duality, one without a second. However, the yogi must later wake up, emerge from Samadhi and there is duality again, for the world of objects confronts him. So now he has to work on the next stage which is to find consciously in the waking experience the same non-duality that he unconsciously knew in sleep. This is done by learning that the universe is or idea or an object for the formless subject and then refunding the universe ~idea back into its source, which is the Soul, which is present in the form of consciousness. Only at this final stage, he says "Atman, which is present in the form of the consciousness, is the same as the Brahman. Brahman is the ultimate truth. “Now” he is fully aware of it.
All yogic visions, however, wonderful will pass away; they go as they come. They have the value of dreams. They are not the truth which is un-passing and beyond change.
One can’t shut his eye to the universe, which confronts him as in Samadhi of yoga and see supreme reality. One can know it only by keeping himself clear and open.
Sage Sankara says: - The yogi must add discrimination to his quest.
Nirvikalpa Samadhi and deep sleep are the same from the standpoint of the Soul, the innermost ‘‘Self’’ the absence of the known. The knower was there.
How does Samadhi give Gnana? Only by preparing yourself to see that the world disappears and re-appears and, that non-duality is here and duality there, to convince the man that in non-duality one won’t disappear as he doesn't disappear in Samadhi or deep sleep. Another advantage of Samadhi is one gets the capacity to forget the external world and to treat it as an idea.
Yoga can never give you the fundamental thing, that the world is an illusion. Only Gnana can give it. Nirvikalpa Samadhi is unquestionably the same as deep sleep, and all ideas are refunded back there too. One must learn what ideas are when all the ideas of the universe-existence go back into one’s mind through Yoga. Then one learns this. How has he to learn that the entire universe is consciousness or Brahman if he stops at Nirvikalpa Samadhi? Without perceiving the universe, and having a duality before him, it is impossible.
Nirvikalpa has no duality, hence it cannot tell you about the universe. The yogi who emerging from Samadhi and says he found Gnana there, says it to a second person, hence there is duality again. If he were a real Gnani, there would be nobody for him to tell that he had experienced Gnana.
Self-knowledge will interest only a few people; the rest are interested in Religion, yoga other paths, and pleasure hunting. : ~

The experience of birth, life, and death belong to the individual. The individual belongs to dualistic illusion or Maya.+

All search is vain until the seeker begins to perceive that the truth he is seeking is hidden within the world in which he exists. Then he may know the world in which he exists is created out of single clay. That single clay is the Soul, which is present in the form of consciousness.

Knowledge of this single clay reveals the truth which is hidden by the illusory world in which we exist.

Only when the seeker drops all the accumulated knowledge then he will be able to realize this truth hidden by the illusory form, time, and space.

Sage Sankara says:~ VC-162- There is no liberation for a person of mere book-knowledge, howsoever well-read in the philosophy of Vedanta, so long as one does not give up the false identification with the body, sense-organs, etc., which are unreal.

Attachment, emotion, aversion, pain, and pleasure are the experience of an individual. You are an individual but the ‘Soul is not an individual because it is a formless, timeless, and spaceless existence. The individual exists only in the domain of form, time, and space.

The Soul is unborn eternal. The experience of birth, life, and death belong to the individual. The individual belongs to dualistic illusion or Maya.

The Soul, the ‘Self’ is not an individual because Soul is ever formless, timeless, and spaceless existence.

When the ‘Self’ is not you but the ‘Self is the Soul then you are thinking the Self is within you because the world in which you exist is within the Soul, which is present in the form of the consciousness.

Sage Sankara says: - VC-47-  All the effects of ignorance, root, and branch, are burnt down by the fire of knowledge, which arises from discrimination between these two—the Self and the not-Self.

Thinking the Soul is within you because the Gurus of the past has said it or it is written in the scriptures you got stuck and you are misdirected and you got stuck to the misdirected believing it as the truth.

Bhagavan Buddha: - There are only two mistakes one can make along the road to truth: not going all the way... and not starting

That is why Bhagavan Buddha said: ~ “Believe nothing because a wise man said it, Believe nothing because it is generally held. Believe nothing because it is written. Believe nothing because it is said to be divine. Believe nothing because someone else said it. But believe only what you yourself judge to be true”

The Soul, which is present in the form of consciousness, is the ultimate reality or Brahman.

The Gurus, who mix practical life and the practical world and preach Advaita, have made their own cocktail, which leads to hallucination. The question never occurs to them “Is what I have preached is really the truth?

Sermons consisting of ornamental words, the profusion of words, and possessing skill in expounding scriptures are merely for the enjoyment of the intellectuals. They do not help to get rid of ignorance.

Upanishads:- Fools dwelling in darkness, but thinking they wise and erudite, go round and round, by various tortuous paths, like the blind led by the blind. (Upanishads Nikilanada - Ch II-5 P-14)

The Scriptures mastery, the force of religious merit--none of these lead to the realization of that Ultimate Truth or Brahman. The ultimate truth is revealed in the clear understanding and realization of ‘what is truth and ‘what is untruth'.

When one realizes the untruth (universe) is created out of single stuff, the Self-awareness rises in the midst of dualistic illusion or Maya exposing the unreal nature of the form, time, and space. : ~ Santthosh Kumaar

Sage Sankara without the scripture one can arrive at the truth of Nondualism by pure reason.+

Ashtavakra Gita: ~ It is not the absence of Buddhi (reason) that can grasp Advaita but the man who possesses the highest intellect. Brains are necessary. Such a man, by merely hearing the truth mentioned will know it. (Page~ 224).

Sage Sankara without the scripture one can arrive at the truth of Nondualism by pure reason.

Sage Sankara says: ~ “The exercise in discrimination between real and unreal and renunciation of the false is real meditation

Unless you exercise your reason (Buddhi) -there is no chance of getting the ultimate truth or Brahman.

The seeker has to use his reason (Buddhi) in order to realize the truth hidden by ignorance. the ignorance is present in the form of the ‘I’.

The Upanishad says: - Atman the Self is known by Reason alone, by the sharpened intellect. Yet still, people worship Yoga and mysticism as the sole means of attaining Atman.

Remember:~

Bhagvad Gita: ~ Reason as a means to reality. (Chap.18 verse 37)
In chap. 10 of in Bhagvad Gita, Krishna says: ~ I cannot save you, but I can give you Buddhi (reason). (chap. 10)
In chap. 10 of in Bhagvad Gita, Krishna says: ~ "I have given you the most secret teaching, now reflect over it all" Krishna plainly says reflect, think. (Verse 63 of Chap. 18)
Mundaka Upanishad says: ~ Both states are harmful and take you away from the path of inquiry into truth. (Page 234)
Ashtavakra Gita: ~ It is not the absence of Buddhi (Reason) that can grasp Advaita but the man who possesses the highest intellect. Brains are necessary. Such a man, by merely hearing the truth mentioned will know it. (Page~ 224). : ~ Santthosh Kumaar

The thoughts and thinker are present only when the world is present. The world is present only when the waking experience is present.+

The thoughts and thinker are present only when the world is present. The world is present only when the waking experience is present.

From the ultimate standpoint, the waking experience is merely an illusion
If the waking experience is merely an illusion then the thought, thinker, and the world are merely an illusion. Thought, thinker, and the world are nothing to do with the Soul, the formless witness.
The witness is that witnesses the thoughts, the thinker, and the world together. The thoughts, thinker, and the world are one in essence. And also the three states are one in essence. That essence is consciousness.
All the thoughts, words, feelings, attachments including the man and his experience of the world are part of the illusion. The illusion (universe) is created out of single stuff. That single stuff is the Soul, which is present in the form of consciousness.
Man and his experience of the world is the product of ignorance. Ignorance is the cause of experiencing duality as reality. The duality is merely an illusion from the ultimate standpoint.
The Soul or consciousness is the Self. Consciousness is the ultimate reality or Brahman or God in truth.
Bhagavad Gita says: ~ Brahmano hi pratisthaham ~ Brahman (God) is considered the all-pervading consciousness, which is the basis of all the animate and inanimate entities and material. (14.27).
When Bhagavad Gita says, God is considered the all-pervading consciousness which is the basis of all the animate and inanimate entities and material then nothing has to be accepted as God other than consciousness.
From the standpoint of the Soul, the Self no second thing exists other than consciousness. : ~
Santthosh Kumaar

The Soul, the Self does not disappear only the ‘I’ appears and disappears.+

The Soul, the Self does not disappear only the ‘I’ appears and disappears.

That is why Bhagavad Gita: ~ The permanent is always there, only the transient ‘I’ comes and goes. (2.18)

Ignorance is present in the form of the ‘I’. Ignorance appears and disappears.

Ignorance is the dualistic illusion. The dualistic illusion is present in the form of the mind. The mind is present in the form of the form, time, and space; the form, time, and space are present in the form of the universe the universe appears as waking or dream (duality) and disappears as deep sleep (nonduality).

Without ignorance the ‘I’ ceases to exist. If the ‘I’ cease the then the mind, the form, time and space, the universe and the waking cease together.

Ignorance is the cause of the forgetfulness of the reality hidden by the ‘I’.

Realize, ‘what is this ‘I’ supposed to be in actuality’ and what is hidden by the ‘I’ will be revealed.

If you realize the ‘Self ‘not the ‘I’ but the Soul then whatever is hidden by the ‘I’ will be revealed.

If there is no ignorance then there is no ‘I’. If there is no ‘I’ then there is the bondage of the dualistic illusion.

If there is no dualistic illusion there is the experience of birth, life, death, and the world.

If there is no experience of birth, life, death, and world it is the fullness of consciousness.

The fullness of consciousness means the Soul the eternal existence.

The seeker has to make sure what is this ‘I’ supposed to be? The seeker has to make sure the unreal nature of the ‘I’ which comes and goes in order to realize the truth, which is beyond the form, time, and space.

The ‘I’ hides the Soul, the Self.

Bhagavad Gita: ~ “You must first see the ‘I’ as illusory before you see others as illusory. ~ CH.2 v.16

Remember, the ‘Self is not ‘I’ or ‘I AM’. The ‘I’ or ‘IAM is an object to the Soul which is the ‘I-LESS’ subject.

People think the ‘I’ without the body is the Self. The seeker has to understand the fact that ‘I’ is not the Self, but the witness of the ‘I’ is the true Self, which is eternal.

That is why Ashtavakra Gita 16:10:~ If you desire liberation, but you still say "I," If you feel the ‘Self’ is the ‘I’, You are not a wise man or a seeker. You are simply a man who suffers.

Realizing the Soul is not the ‘I’ but the Soul is the Self, is Self –realization.

That is why the Bhagavad Gita says: ~ “Among thousands of men, scarcely one strives for perfection; and of those who strive and succeed, scarcely one knows the ‘Self’ in truth. : ~ Santthosh Kumaar

Sage Sankara: ~ "Though I wear these robes of a Sanyasin, it is only for the sake of bread."+

Sage Sankara: ~ "Though I wear these robes of a Sanyasin, it is only for the sake of bread." (Select Works of Sage Sankara" also his commentary on Brihad)

Thus, the above passage proves that all those who were the sanyasin robes are wearing it for the sake of bread belongs to the religion; they are nothing to do with the Self-knowledge or Brahma Gnana or Atma Gnana. There is no need to criticize and condemn the Gurus, yogis, and swamis because they are needed for the welfare of ignorant masses in the dualistic world.
Sage Sankara in Viveka Chudamani (2), states that the Knower of the Atman (i.e., a Gnani) "bears no outward mark of a holy man" (Stanza 539).
It means the Gurus, Swamis, and Yogis who identify themselves as holy people are not Gnanis.
Those who are seeking truth need not follow any Guru or any teaching.
The one who thinks of himself as a Guru and the one who thinks of himself as a chela (disciple) will not be able to acquire Self-Knowledge or Brahma Gnana or Atma Gnana because both of them accepted themselves as the body. And all their understanding, practices, knowledge are based on the false self (ego or you). Therefore, the Guru –Shisya concept is a great obstacle in the pursuit of truth.
A Gnani never accepts himself as a Guru or accepts anyone as his disciple, because he is fully aware of the fact that the Gurus and disciple and the world in which they exist is nothing but the dualistic illusion. In reality, the Soul, the Self alone exists without the dualistic illusion.

Remember:~

Manduka Upanishads:~ A Gnani, bears no external mark. Neither nudity nor the religious robe has anything to do with him.
A Gnani cannot have the idea of giving up, renouncing the world or some object or person in the world, because that would connote the idea of duality. Knowing no second thing at all there remains nothing to be given up.
A Gnani, on attaining realization, will not give up his vocation in life but will continue it as before. If he was a billniore, he continues so, if a peasant, he will remain one. He still does his duty, but he is fully aware of the fact that his practical life within the practical world merely an illusion.
It is not correct to say that, a Gnani sees only good everywhere and never evil. He is fully aware of the evil things, he knows when he is being taken for a ride, but he remains unperturbed though acting as required. He recognizes what is bad and what is the good practical point of view and what is real and what is an illusion from the ultimate standpoint.:~Santthosh Kumaar

The seeker has to discard Advaitic orthodox prescription in order to discover pure Advaitic essence.+

Sage Sankara’s Advaitic wisdom will one day replace all the religions of the world because Advaitic wisdom is the knowledge of God in truth.

Sage Sankara’s Advaitic wisdom will help to bring universal brotherhood and unity in diversity.
The seeker has to discard Advaitic orthodox prescription in order to discover pure Advaitic essence.
Advaitic wisdom is not any type of teaching or philosophy. Advaitic wisdom is not body-based knowledge but the knowledge of the true existence.
Advaita is the nature of the Soul, the ‘Self’ which is present in the form of consciousness. Advaita is the ultimate reality, Brahman, or God in truth.
That why Sage Sankara said:~Talk as much philosophy as you like, worship as many gods as you please, observe ceremonies and sing devotional hymns, but liberation will never come, even after a hundred aeons, without realizing the Oneness.
When the ‘Self’ is not the body (you) but the Soul then the question of wife, children, or whatever connected to the body will not arise.
All these experiences as a father, son, Guru, and pupil the world in which they all exist were one and the same consciousness appearing differently. All these distinctions disappear when one realizes Self is not ‘I’ but the Soul. The Soul is the cause of this world in which we exist and it itself is uncaused.
Perfect understanding and realization of ‘what is what’ leads to Self-awareness. By holding on to theories one remains in the realm of duality. One has to mentally go on dropping what is not the truth through deeper Self-search.

Finally when one becomes aware of the fact that, his ego, his body, and the world are one in essence then there is Self-awareness in the midst of dualistic illusion or Maya.
Sage Sankara says: ~ V.63 ~ "Without knowing and examining the external world, one can’t know Truth, as the idea that the external world exists, won't go. It can go only by an inquiry into the nature of the external world.
In nondual Self-awareness, the ego is not considered as ego, even though the ego is present, the body is not considered as a body even though the body is present, the world which confronts him is not considered as the world even though the world is present, the duality ceases even though the duality is present, and because of wisdom, everything is considered as consciousness. Thus there is conscious oneness.
Only in ignorance, the world in which we exist is an illusion created out of the Soul, the ‘Self’. : ~Santthosh Kumaar

By not doing or by keeping quiet or by watching your thoughts, the ignorance will not vanish.+

By not doing or by keeping quiet or by watching your thoughts, the ignorance will not vanish. Without getting rid of the ignorance the truth will not be revealed.

Without realizing what is the untruth it is impossible to realize what is the truth. Perfect understanding and realization of ‘what is what’ leads to Self-awareness.

By holding on to theories one remains in the realm of duality. One has to mentally go on dropping what is not the truth through deeper Self-search.

Finally when one becomes aware of the fact that, his ego, his body, and the world are one in essence then there is Self-awareness in the midst of duality.

If the 'Self' is not the body then why talk of the five senses which are concerned with the body.

Why talk of the yogic chakras which are concerned to the body.

Why talk of karma which is concerned with the body.

Why talk about religion, which is conferenced to the body.

Why talk of religious Gods, which are concerned to the body.

The Soul is the cause of the world in which you exist and it itself uncaused.

Consciousness is not limited to the physical body but consciousness pervades the world in which the body exists.

Some gurus claim that the ‘Self’ is within the heart but the ‘Self’ is not within the physical body but the world in which you exist is within the Soul, which is the  ‘Self’.

People are searching for the ultimate truth in all the wrong places. They think the religious Gurus and yogis will help them to get ‘ Self -realization.

People are unaware they are seeking truth within the dualistic illusion or Maya. They are unaware of the fact that the world in which we exist is the dualistic illusion or Maya.

People believe that by performing various rituals, temples worship, pilgrimaging, and visiting mountaintops, monasteries they will find what they are seeking.

Without realizing the world in which they exist is an illusion, it is impossible to realize the truth hidden by the illusory form, time, and space.

What you are seeking is hidden by the dualistic illusion. The ultimate truth or Brahman dwells within the three states like fragrance in the flower; Musk lies within the Musk-deer yet seeks it afar."

Until one traces the truth within the three states the illusion of birth, life, death, and the world is experienced as reality.

Deeper Self-search reveals the fact that ‘Self’ is not the ‘I’ but the ‘Self’’ is the ‘I- LESS Soul, which witnesses the coming and going of the ‘I’.

Until one gets a firm conviction that, only the Soul, which is present in the form of consciousness, is real and the world, in which he exists, is an illusion created out of consciousness, it is difficult to realize the truth hidden by ignorance. : ~ Santthosh Kumaar

Until and unless the whole of humanity is made aware of what God suppose to be in truth, it is impossible to wipe out the myth of God propagated by the religion.+

Religion is nothing to do with the ultimate truth or Brahman or God in truth.

If one is seeking the truth, then he has to be free from all the religious beliefs and dogmas. Religion is based on the ego (you), whereas, the ultimate truth is based on the Soul, the Self.

Until and unless the whole of humanity is made aware of what God suppose to be in truth, it is impossible to wipe out the myth of God propagated by the religion.

Whatever is based on the ego is an illusion and whatever is based on the Soul is the ultimate reality or Brahman. Thus, religion has to be bifurcated from spirituality to realize the truth beyond the form, time, and space.

There is no use in condemning religion. But one has to highlight how they cause hindrance and becomes an obstacle in the pursuit of truth.

There is no need to rebel against religion but to realize the religion is based on the false self within the false experience whereas spirituality is based on the Soul, the Self.

Religion makes humanity remain in ignorance of the reality of their true existence with its beliefs, superstitions, and dogmas, the ideas of heaven, hell, sin, karma, and rebirth.

Heaven the abode of physicalized Gods, where one goes after death, rebirth, and karma theories based on the birth entity, which is the false self within the illusory world.

For those ignorant who believe their experience of birth, life, death, and the world as a reality, think that the effect of the action is done in previous births, as the Prarabdha in this birth, but for the realized one the present birth, life, death and the world itself is an illusion because they have realized the fact that, waking experience itself is an illusion created out of the Soul, which is present in the form of consciousness.

Heaven, the abode of physicalized Gods, where one goes after death, rebirth, and karma theories based on the birth entity, which is the false self within the illusory world.

When Vedas and Upanishads give clear-cut ideas of what God supposed to be then all these Gods and Goddesses which people worship have no value from the ultimate standpoint.

Religious Gods are based on blind faith or belief. Belief is not God. Religious God cannot be considered as the center because the Soul, the ‘Self’ is the center of all that exists. Without the Soul the world in which you exist ceases to exist, which means the religious God is dependent on the Soul for his existence. God in truth is only the Soul, which is present in the form of consciousness.

Remember:~

Religion is meant for the ignorant populace who are incapable of grasping the truth, which is hidden by the form, time, and space. Spirituality is meant for the serious seekers of truth who want to realize the truth hidden by illusory form, time, and space.

Never mix spirituality with religion. Religion is based on the ego whereas spirituality is based on the Soul, the Spirit, or God in truth.

The religious Gurus are meant to inject morals and ethics and guide the ignorant populace in human society to live with love and harmony.

People who rebelled against the religion, are merely intellectual speculators.

They are not serious about realizing the truth. They are more interested in showing their intellectual acrobatics with the information collected from whatever they have read and heard. Such accumulated knowledge is not the means to realize the truth, which hidden by ignorance.

Condemning religion and its Gurus and Gods will help the seeker to get rid of the ignorance.

It is better to educate the crowd to realize what God suppose to be in actuality according to their own scriptures.

Religion is regarded as sacred and real by the common people, by the wise as false, and by the politicians as useful.

Remember:~

God in truth is not religious. God is universal and belongs to the whole of humanity. All Gods of the beliefs are mere imaginary.

Bible says: ~ “God is a Spirit, and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth (John 4:24)”,

The Spirit is the root element of the universe. The Spirit is present in the form of the Soul, the innermost Self. The Soul is present in the form of consciousness. From the Spirit, the universe comes into existence. In the Spirit, the universe resides. And into the Spirit, the universe is dissolved. The Spirit is the parent of all that is there is.

Yajurveda – chapter- 32:~ God is the Supreme Spirit.

Vedas and Upanishad confirm the Soul, the Self, is present in the form of the Spirit or consciousness.

Even Rig Veda: ~ The Atman is the cause; Atman is the support of all that exists in this universe. May ye never turn away from the Atman the Self. May ye never accept another God in place of the Atman nor worship other than the Atman?" (10:48, 5)

Even Brihadaranyaka Upanishad: ~ Brahman (God) is present in the form of the Athma, and it is indeed Athma itself.

Even Bhagavad Gita says: ~ Brahmano hi pratisthaham ~ Brahman (God) is considered the all-pervading consciousness, which is the basis of all the animate and inanimate entities and material. (14.27).

When Bhagavad Gita says, God is considered the all-pervading consciousness which is the basis of all the animate and inanimate entities and material then nothing has to be accepted other than consciousness a God.

Brihadaranyaka Upanishad says: "He who worships the deities as entities entirely separate from him does not know the truth. For the Gods, he is like a pasu (beast)". (1. 4. 10)

It is time; humanity has to become fanatics of the truth to bring universal brotherhood and universal peace. The truth is the only thing that can cure all myths propagated by the belief system, which has become the cause of concern for humanity. : ~Santthosh Kumaar

From the standpoint of the Soul, the Self, there is neither bondage nor liberation.+

From the standpoint of the Soul, the Self, there is neither bondage nor liberation. There is but the fullness of consciousness without the illusory divisions of the form, time, and space.

The Soul, which is present in the form of consciousness, is the only reality in which everything exists, to which everything belongs, from which everything has emerged, which the cause of everything is, and which everything is.

Thus there is a need to realize the Self is not you but the ‘Self is the Soul, which is present in the form of consciousness. The world in which we exist is nothing but consciousness.

When the matter is an illusion created out of the spirit then Spirit alone is real.

When the object is created out of the subject then the subject alone is real.

When the world in which you exist created out of consciousness then consciousness alone is real.

Reality and unreality are created out of single stuff because the unreality (the world in which we exist) is experienced as a reality we are unaware of the reality hidden by the unreality. There is no second thing that exists other than the Soul, which is present in the form of consciousness. The dualistic illusion, which is present in the form of the ‘I’, hides the truth.

Stick to reality by mentally dropping the unreality.

Wisdom consists of knowing the truth, that everything world in which you exist is the consciousness. The freedom (ultimate truth) is always there yet one does not know it. But to those whose reason is turned away from physicality and who have attained the serenity of the Soul or the consciousness, is quite near to realizing the ultimate truth or Brahman or God in truth.

Your quest is over. There is no need to search for the truth. The Soul, which is present in the form of consciousness, is the ultimate truth or Brahman or God in truth.

To search for this truth there is no need to struggle. To understand, assimilate and realize this truth you have to drop all your accumulated knowledge and stick to the truth, which is consciousness by realizing no second thing exists other than consciousness because the world in which you exist is nothing but consciousness.

There is no need to read books, there is no need to indulge in an argument, there is no need to indulge in yoga to get  Self-realization.

You have to only realize the ‘‘Self’’ is not you and ‘‘Self’ is not within your body because the ‘‘Self’’ is the Soul, which is present in the form of consciousness. The consciousness pervades all three states. All three states are created out of consciousness. For anything to exist,  consciousness has to be there.

The ultimate truth or Brahman dwells within the three states like fragrance in the flower; Musk lies within the Musk-deer yet seeks it afar." Until one traces the truth within the three states the illusion of birth, life, death, and the world is experienced as reality. : ~ Santthosh Kumaar
