Deep sleep is an awareness of the emptiness, is the state of ignorance. Conscious awareness of the consciousness in the midst of the waking state is the state of God in truth.
It is all made so complicated by the ‘I-centric; gurus and their teaching and religion and yoga have made it still more complicated.
No amount of reading and understanding can lead to Self-realization. The seeker must be realizing the Self in truth.
When the Seeker gets that conviction through a perfect understanding of ‘what is what’, then only he will be able to get Self-awareness in the midst of the dualistic illusion.
Yogi who gets absorbed in Samadhi cannot get Self-realization because his Samadhi is based on the false self (ego) within the false experience (waking).
The aim of the seeker is to realize the 'Self' hidden by ignorance. The seeker must realize the Self is not within the physical body but it is hidden by the universe. The ‘Self’ is hidden by the universe because the universe is merely an illusion created out of the Soul, the Self, which is present in the form of consciousness.
Self- realization does not arise from yogic samadhi or meditation or any other type of physical-based practice but it is possible only through perfect understanding, assimilation, and realization of what is what.:~
