By observing the silence and stilling the thoughts nothing is gained. By observing silence and stilling the thoughts within the illusory dualistic world Self-realization is an impossibility.
Non-dualistic silence is the nature of the Soul, the Self. Non-dualistic silence is like a deep sleep state where the waking experience is absent.
If the waking experience is absent then there is neither thinker nor thought nor the world.
Non-dualistic silence is possible only in Self-awareness. Self-awareness is possible only when there is no trace of ignorance. Ignorance vanishes only when Advaitic wisdom dawns.
Advaitic Wisdom is possible only when you realize the Self is not you but the Self the Soul, the witnesses the coming and going of the 'I'.
Just because some Guru or teacher said to observe silence it only means, to imitate the nature of the nondual Soul, Self.
By imitating the nature of the Soul, the ignorance will not vanish. Without getting rid of the ignorance the Advaitic wisdom will not dawn.
By observing the silence and stilling the thoughts will not lead one to Self-realization. :~Santthosh Kumaar
