Sage Sankara pointed out those rituals could in no way bring about wisdom, much less moksha.
Mundaka Upanishad says: ~ “The rituals and the sacrifices described in the Vedas deal with lower knowledge.+
"What is God in truth?" & “Where is God?”+
Thus, the truth realization itself is God-realization because the ultimate truth is Brahman or God. Self-realization is God-realization and God-realization is real worship.
Rig Veda: ~ 'Prajnanam Brahma'- Consciousness is the ultimate reality or Brahman or God in truth.
Do not accept any other God other than the Soul. The Soul is God in truth, Nothing is real but the Soul, which present in the form of consciousness. Nothing Matters but realize God in truth. God in truth is everywhere and in everything. Let these words be inscribed in your subconscious.
God in truth is hidden by the illusory universe. God in truth alone is real and eternal and all else is an illusion.
Brahman is merely a word to indicate the ultimate truth or God in truth. The ultimate truth itself is God in truth.
“Where is God?”
The world in which you exist is not separate from God because the world in which you exist is created out of God. God is not imagination whatever you think of God is imagination based on the false self within the false experience.
Sage Sankara’s Supreme Brahman (God) is impersonal, Nirguna (without Gunas or attributes), Nirakara (formless), Nirvisesha (without special characteristics), immutable, eternal, and Akarta (non-agent). It is above all needs and desires. It is always the Witnessing Subject. It can never become an object as it is beyond the reach of the senses. Brahman is non-dual, one without a second. It has no other besides it. It is destitute of difference, either external or internal. Brahman cannot be described because the description implies a distinction. Brahman cannot be distinguished from any other than It. In Brahman, there is not a distinction between substance and attribute. Sat-Chit-Ananda constitutes the very essence or Svarupa of Brahman, and not just Its attributes. The Nirguna Brahman of Sage Sankara is impersonal.
Sage Sankara: ~"That which permeates all, which nothing transcends and which, like the universal space around us, fills everything completely from within and without, that Supreme non-dual Brahman (God)."
Lord Krishna Says Ch ~V: ~ “Those who know the Self in truth.". The last two words (tattvataha) are usually ignored by pundits, but they make all the difference between the ordinary concept of God and the truth about God.
Bhagavad Gita: ~ Brahman hi pratisthaham ~ Brahman (God) is considered the all-pervading consciousness, which is the basis of all the animate and inanimate entities and material. (14.27).
When Bhagavad Gita says, God is considered the all-pervading consciousness which is the basis of all the animate and inanimate entities and material then nothing has to be accepted other than consciousness a God.
The dualistic worship of "God” is only for the ignorant populace. The God in truth is only Atman, the innermost Self. In reality, there is no duality, no differentiation. Only Atman exists.
Yajurveda – chapter- 32:~ God is Supreme Spirit.
If God is the formless Spirit, then how does man know God created the world? There is no proof. If man had seen God creating the world, he could admit it, but how could he have seen God before he came into existence? (i.e. were created).
The Vedas confirms God is Atman (Spirit), the Self.
Rig Veda: ~ The Atman is the cause; Atman is the support of all that exists in this universe. May ye never turn away from the Atman the innermost self. May ye never accept another God in place of the Atman nor worship other than the Atman?" (10:48, 5)
Rig-Veda 1-164-46 and Y.V 32-1 clearly mention that God is “One”.
Rig Veda declares God is ‘ONE’ and God is Atman, then why believe and worship in place of real God.
Brihad Upanishad: ~ “If you think there is another entity, whether man or God there is no truth."
Brihadaranyaka Upanishad: ~ Brahman (God) is present in the form of the Athma, and it is indeed Athma itself.
People who are saying ‘I AM GOD’ are hallucinating that they become God. First, you must know what is God.
Thus, truth-realization is self-realization. Self-realization is God-realization. God-realization itself is real worship. :~Santthosh Kumaar
Mystic claim:~ ‘I AM GOD’ is incorrect because God in truth is not an individual because God in truth pervades the whole universe.+
Mystic claim:~ ‘I AM GOD’ is incorrect because God in truth is not an individual because God in truth pervades the whole universe.
People believe that a Guru or mystic or priest has got so many followers and, therefore, there must be some truth in their teachings, which is a common fallacy accepted by the mass due to their inherited samskara or conditioning. It proves only an ignorant can find a number of greater ignorant to follow him.
The path of love and humanism is a religious path. The path of love and humanism is not the Atmic path. The path of love and humanism are very valuable in practical life in the dualistic world. The path of love and humanism is not the Atmic path. The Atma is God one without the second. In reality, there is no second thing that exists other than Atma the God.
First Mundaka - Chapter 2 (10)- Ignorant fools, regarding sacrifices and humanitarian works as the highest, do not know any higher good. Having enjoyed their reward on the heights of heaven, gained by good works, they enter again this world or a lower one.
Brihadaranyaka Upanishad: ~ In this state a father is no father, a mother no mother, Gods no Gods, no Vedas. In this state, a thief is no thief, the killer of a noble Brahmana no killer, a monk no monk, a hermit no hermit. This form of his is untouched by good work and untouched by evil work, for he is then beyond all the woes of his intellect. ~(4.3.22)
Many Gurus instead of encouraging seekers to seek the truth, they inject their own theories to keep them hallucinating of talking love and compassion, which belongs to the dualistic illusion. It escapes the mechanism and makes the seeker hopeless, helpless, and lazy to seek the truth he is seeking for.
A Gnani uses love and compassion for the practical purpose but he is fully aware they are not of any use to realize the truth hidden by the dualistic illusion (universe).
Love and compassion needed in practical life within the practical world. However, from the ultimate standpoint, the practical life within the practical world is merely an illusion. In the reality, there is only the Soul, the one without the Second.
The seeker of truth must know for his own information, the truth in God is not a religious God, which they believe and worship. The beliefs propagated by the religion of their individualized God are superstition. Such Gods have no place in truth. There is no need to condemn those who believe and follow. Until ignorance, dominate them they will no buzz from their inherited belief. Everyone is free to follow their chosen path, which makes them happy and gives them satisfaction.
Ishopanishad:~ "They are steeped in ignorance and sunk into the greatest depth of misery who worships the matter, instead of the All-Pervading God and those who worship things born of matter like trees, animals, man, etc. are sunk deeper in misery."
When Upanishads itself says they are steeped in ignorance and sunk into the greatest depth of misery who worships the matter, instead of the All-Pervading God (Atman) and those who worship things born of matter (illusion) are sunk deeper in misery then why worship God in place of the real God., which is Atman.
The dualistic worship of personal “Gods” is only for the ignorant populace. The God in truth is only Atman, the innermost Self. In reality, there is no duality, no differentiation. Only Atman exists.
How can you worship God? That implies two ~ the worshiper and the worshiped, whereas the God is nondual. One can worship his idea of God only or realize his unity with it when he can’t worship it as apart.
When Upanishads and Vedas declare that, “God is present in the form of the Athma, and God is indeed Athma itself” then why accept another God in place of the Atman or worship other than the Atman.
Why worship and glorify the Gurus and Yogis (human form) in place of God when Veda bars such activities and it also warns people who indulge in such activities are enveloped in still greater darkness, in other words, they are extremely foolish, fall into an awful hell of pain and sorrow, and suffer terribly for a long time
Vedas bars human worship: ~
Translation:~
"They are enveloped in darkness, in other words, are steeped in ignorance and sunk in the greatest depths of misery who worship the uncreated, eternal prakrti -- the material cause of the world -- in place of the All-pervading God, But those who worship visible things born of the prakrti, such as the earth, trees, bodies (human and the like) in place of God are enveloped in still greater darkness, in other words, they are extremely foolish, fall into an awful hell of pain and sorrow, and suffer terribly for a long time."- (Yajur Veda 40:9.)
Sage Sankara says: VC- v6~ Let erudite scholars quote all the scripture, let Gods be invoked through sacrifices, let elaborate rituals be performed, let personal Gods be propitiated---yet, without the realization of one‘s identity With the Self, there shall be no liberation for the individual, not even in the lifetimes of a hundred Brahmas put together.
The seeker of truth has to accept the truth as God and reject the untruth to realize other than the Atman the real God alone is real and all else is an illusion created of the Atman the only God.
Atmic path is a very personal path. Without an intense urge, no one can tread this path. It cannot be a force on the religious people. Moreover, religious people are not fit to acquire Self-knowledge or Brahma Gnana or Atma Gnana. : ~ Santthosh Kumaar
Many people quote non-duality without understanding it really in its highest aspect.+
Brihad Upanishad says ~ “Every man says, “I know.” What does he know?
People say Aham Brahmasmi -- I am God, I am Brahman. But when Brahman is, how can "I" remain? Only Brahman remains, not I.
People think the ‘I’ without the body is the Self. The seeker has to understand the fact that ‘I’ is not the Self, but the witness of the ‘I’ is the true Self, which is eternal.
That is why Ashtavakra Gita 16:10:~ If you desire liberation, but you still say "I," If you feel the ‘Self’ is the ‘I’, You are not a wise man or a seeker. You are simply a man who suffers.
People are stuck with the reality of the ‘I’, which they take 'I' as real because some Gurus have propagated the Self as the ‘I’. There is no need to convince such mindsets who refuse to accept anything other than their accepted truth. The seeker of truth accepts only the truth nothing but the truth. The truth is hidden by the ‘I’ but it is without the ‘I’.
Some Gurus in the past glorified the ‘I’ without verifying what this ‘I’ is an actuality. And the follower of that ‘I’ based teaching Got stuck with the ‘I’.
The ‘I’ is present only when the mind is present.
The mind is present only when the universe is present.
The universe is present only when the waking is present.
If the ‘I’ is absent then the mind, the universe, the waking, is absent.
~ It means the ‘I’, the mind, the universe, the waking, are one and the same thing.
This is very important for the seeker to know to realize the ‘I’ itself is ignorance and to overcome the ignorance they have to discard ‘I’.
Then why use the word ‘I’ for the ‘Self’, which is the cause of ignorance.
The Soul, the Self is God in truth. It is not “I AM GOD, but it’s correct to say ‘the SELF IS GOD because the Self is not the ‘I’ or ’I AM”. : ~ Santthosh Kumaar
All Gods based on blind faith or belief are superstitions. This bending the knee to superstitions does not befit you.+
Thus, the truth realization itself is God-realization because the ultimate truth is Brahman or God in truth. Self-realization is God-realization and God-realization is real worship.
You, yourself must workout on realizing Truth by using your own judgment and reason. Nobody else, no guru can do it for you.
Remember:~
Bhagavan Buddha: ~ Do not believe in anything merely on the authority of your teachers and elders.
One should not conclude because some great thinker said so or some philosophy says so. Without consciousness, the mind, which is present in the form of the universe ceases to exist.
You cease to exist without the universe. The universe ceases to exist without the Soul, the Self. The Soul can exist with or without the universe. The universe itself is a dualistic illusion.
Your ‘I’ know attitude is blocking you from realizing the truth, which is beyond the form, time, and space.
Bhagavan Buddha: ~ “There are only two mistakes one can make along the road to truth: not going all the way... and not starting.
You have got stuck with some Guru and his teaching without verifying whether the guru or teaching is saying the truth it may be a half-truth or no truth at all.
Bhagavan Buddha said: ~” Believe nothing just because a so-called wise person said it. Believe nothing just because a belief is generally held. Believe nothing just because it is said in ancient books. Believe nothing just because it is said to be of divine origin. Believe nothing just because someone else believes it. Believe only what you yourself test and judge to be true.
It is foolish to cling to some Guru and his teaching and stop your inward journey. Only when we independently search the truth without religion and its doctrine then we will be able to realize the truth beyond form, time, and space.
Unless you exercise your reason (Buddhi) ~ there is no chance of getting the ultimate truth or Brahman or God in truth.
Jesus said: ~ “Those who seek should not stop seeking until they find. When they find it, they will be disturbed. When they are disturbed, they will marvel and will reign over all. [And after they have reigned they will rest.]"
Kabir views humanity as being caught up in the illusion, searching for Ultimate Reality in all the wrong places, always seeking It outside of the Self in various rituals, temples, forests, and mountaintops, not realizing That for which we seek is already hidden within us.
The ultimate truth or Brahman or God in truth dwells within the three states like fragrance in the flower; Musk lies within the Musk-deer yet seeks it afar." Until one traces the truth within the three states the illusion of birth, life, death, and the world is experienced as reality. ~Santthosh Kumaar
Religious upbringing is a major cause, which blocks one from realizing the Self hidden by ignorance.+
The religion
blocks one from realizing God in truth because religion is based on myth
whereas Spirituality is based on the truth.
God in truth is not based on your inherited blind faith or belief. The Religions are based on personal God whereas Sage Sankara’s Supreme Brahman (God) is impersonal.
Remember:~
Religious upbringing is a major cause, which blocks one from realizing the Self hidden by ignorance. The orthodox people have a narrow-minded outlook because they think of what religious samskaras they inherited from their forefathers as the ultimate truth.
The garbage of the religious beliefs dogmas superstition is confounded with the human imagination. The great reality of the glory of the religious Gods hyped and obscured by so much tinsel and commercialism.
Spirituality is not theology. Advaita is not a philosophy but Advaita is the ultimate truth or Brahman or God. Advaita is Self-knowledge or Brahma Gnana or Atma Gnana or knowledge of the Spirit or God in truth.
Hindus get samskara as Hindu. Christian gets samskara as Christian. Muslims get samskara as Muslims. Buddhist get samskara as Buddhist.
The seeker of truth should not start with the idea of God. The seeker does not know whether there is God or not. There is no proof. The seeker needs proof of God's existence.
There is need not doubt that people saw Shiva, Jesus, etc. That they saw visions may be an undeniable fact. But the question is “Was what they saw the Truth?" They no doubt had such vision but they never stopped to inquire if their visions are true.
Remember:~
After years of effort glorifying Christ when Christian closes his eyes and Christ comes to him.
After years of effort glorifying Krishna when a Hindu closes his eyes and Krishna comes to him.
After years of effort glorifying the Buddha when a Buddhist closes his eyes and Bhagavan Buddha comes to him.
After years of effort glorifying the Mahavira when a Jain closes his eyes and Mahavira comes to him.
Christ doesn’t come to a Hindu; Mahavira doesn’t come to a Christian. Buddha doesn’t come to a Jain: only the image projected in the subconscious will come. The image became almost solid. It became so real from constant repetition, from continuous remembering, that it seemed projected deity was standing in from of him. No one was standing there.
Wherever is projected is merely an illusion created out of consciousness. Any experience is possible only within the domain of form, time, and space. Whatever belongs to the form, time and space are merely an illusion.
The illusion is created out of single stuff and that single stuff is consciousness. The knowledge of the single stuff is Self-knowledge or Brahma Gnana or Atma Gnana.
In reality, consciousness alone exists without the division of form, time, and space. There is no second here, no other. From the standpoint of the Soul, form, time, and space are merely an illusion.
The seeker has to take all the facts, and then proceed to examine and analyze, how far is it true?”
To talk of seeking God is as meaningless as saying "seeking dog". It is only a hollow word. one must know God in truth. :~Santthosh Kumaar
A person who realized the ultimate truth or Brahman will never declare he is Self-realized. If a person says he is Self-realized he is still ignorant.+
A person who declares himself as Self-realized is not Self-realized, because, he unaware of the fact that he is not the Self but the Self is the Soul.
Existence means existence in the sense of the Soul, the Self. When you reduce the universe into consciousness, the non-dualistic existence is revealed.+
Existence means existence in the sense of the Soul, the Self. When you reduce the universe into consciousness, the non-dualistic existence is revealed.
Sage Goudapad:~Duality is for the unwise, nonduality and undifferentiated Reality is for the wise and difficult to grasp.
Understanding the reality without clarity is disastrous. The lethargic attitude makes one remain in ignorance without proper inquiry and perfect understanding of ‘what is what’.
Sage Sankara says: ~ “What is accepted without a proper inquiry will not lead a person to the final goal. On the contrary, such acceptance will result only in evil, in something which is detrimental to our spiritual progress.
Sage Sankara says: - VC-47- All the effects of ignorance, root, and branch, are burnt down by the fire of knowledge, which arises from discrimination between these two—the Self and the non-Self.
Until you think you are an individual separate from the world and the world that existed prior to you and you are born in it afterward the ignorance will prevail as a reality. Till ignorance is there the universe prevails as reality.
Sage Sankara says: ~ “The exercise in discrimination between real and unreal and renunciation of the false is real meditation, then why you are indulging in other types of meditation.
Perfect understanding and realization of ‘what is what’ leads to Self-awareness.
The Soul alone is. The Self is not you but the Self is the Soul, which is present in the form of the consciousness. The consciousness is the ultimate truth or Brahman.
Thus, Atman is Brahman. Thus, no second thing exists from the standpoint of the Soul, the Self.
In Self-awareness, you and the world in which you exist cease to exist as a reality.
The Soul is the Self. The Soul is Self-evident. It is not established by extraneous proofs. It is not possible to deny the Soul because It is the very essence of the one who denies It. The Soul is the basis of all kinds of knowledge, presuppositions, and proofs.
The Soul is the Self. The Soul is present in the form of consciousness. The Soul is the witness-consciousness that experiences the action, the actor, and the world of separate things. It is like a light that illuminates everything in a theatre, revealing the master of ceremonies, the guests, and the dancers with complete impartiality. Even when they all depart, the light shines to reveal their absence. : ~ Santthosh Kumaar
